In 2011, people from around the Detroit area sent us hundreds of iWishes! There were many heartfelt requests, from hopes for economic growth in the city to big wins for our sports teams. Looking at all the submissions, we were most touched by wishes like this one:
“That everyone have enough food to eat and a warm place to call home!"
In 2012, Compuware teamed up with Habitat for Humanity Detroit to grant this wish by sponsoring and building a new home for one deserving family – just in time for the holidays! We received many applications for Project: Welcome Home, and we are delighted that our efforts helped empower the McQueen family to pursue their dreams with the security of knowing they have a safe, warm place to call home.
Staying true to Habitat for Humanity Detroit’s goal of assisting families to become independent homeowners was an important part of this campaign. To that end, the McQueen family is responsible for paying a nominal mortgage on the house. To start the McQueen family off on a good foot, Compuware paid the first two years of the mortgage. The Compuware-sponsored home was presented to the McQueen family fully furnished and complete with food in the refrigerator and gifts for the holiday season.
